Devotion: Living For Others

Generous persons will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. Prov. 11:25 (CEB)

Each time you sow acts that enriches others lives, you pave the way for your own soul to be enriched. We really don't know what tremendous impact and difference our actions and words make in the lives of others. Our gifts of thoughtfulness goes a long way in making others feel great about life and themselves. A handshake, or a smile can calm the most troubled heart, replacing it with peace and hopefulness. A positive compliments or a word of encouragement might just be what that person needs to take that bold step.

Giving doesn't only have to be in money, giving can be in talent, time energy or skills. You can identify a cause in the area of your passion and volunteer your service. Begin to think of ways you could add value to the lives of others. Who are you passionate about? Men, women, youth, teens, children, widow, the sick, the imprisoned, elderly, etc. How can you make difference in the lives of these people you're passionate about. What areas of their lives affects you?

When we hear giving, we always want to picture something so big and noticeable. This is what scares a lot from giving. What you give is the impact and not the size. Can you devote an hour of your time every week to create ways in which you can impact those you're passionate about. What need can you identify in these sets of people that hasn't been met? Can you think of a solution? Are you passionate about marriage, what can you create to help the men become better lovers of their wives. Find out what families, couples, churches, organisations, schools, and the world need and create it.

Today's Action Plan:

• Cultivate an habit of smiling.

• Look out for opportunities to sow kindness, helping someone lift a load, giving a friend a hug.

• Complementing a colleague, encouraging a spouse or letting someone into the line in traffic.

God's word encourages that whatever we give returns back to us in multiple folds. No one can ever out-give God.

God bless you, go into the week and prosper by giving. Have a flourishing day.
