Devotion: The Cost of Your Dream

For which of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost.... Luke 14:28-29 (NASB)

For your dream to be actualised, you need to know the cost and be willing to pay for it. There are no quick fix or shortcut to success. Every success has a price tag attached to it. What is the cost of your dream, have you given it a thought? Are you willing to pay the price? Are you ready to invest in time, effort, energy, trainings, books, resources? What sacrifices are you willing to make to put you amongst the top best in your field.

Your chances of surviving the obstacles and competitions out there is in the price you're willing to pay. The difference between a successful person and one who's not is in her readiness to invest in her dream.

"You can't become exceptional if you're not willing to take extraordinary steps away from the ordinary life." - Florence Ogunbowale

Excellence is exceeding and staying above the norm, what is the cost of excellence to you? The closer you are to greatness, the farther away you'll be from mediocrity. To experience a changed life something must change within you, there has to be a shift in your mindset. It won't fall on you from the sky, you need to go after it by giving whatever it'll take to have it. The cost of your dream may be high, don't be discouraged rather let the end result encourage you.

Success requires a lot of hard work; your perseverance is always a measure of your passion for the dream. If its your dream you'll survive the roadblocks as against giving up if you're running someone else's dream. The price for your dream will always come as an opportunity cost; what are you willing to give up for the life you so desire? Is there someone loaded with what you need for your next level, give up your pride and go for it. Are there pleasures that cost you precious time that could yield profit if better invested? Give it up.

Your future is as important as you take it, you can't invest in it and not experience true fulfilment. You can come up with a plan on how to invest in your dream that would not be too overwhelming on you. Take it one step at a time, but make sure you're growing towards your dream.

Today's Action Plan:

• Outline what you need to give up to live your dream.

• Create a second list of who you need to become to live your dream.

• Select an item you can begin with NOW. Is it picking up that book on the shelf to read?

• Booking appointments, researching a course you could do, etc... Do something now.

A flourishing future awaits you as you begin to pay the price for your dream. God bless you.
