Are You Living A Script?

What was your childhood dream? What are those things that connect with your inner person but you're ashamed to bring to the open because it is not approved off by those closest to you? What talent have you had to bury or resize so family members can relate with it.

There are people who in all their lives have lived according to the dictates of family and have therefore lost touch with their true identity. This initially provides a sense of security knowing you're accepted and approved of but it is at the same time very dangerous as your beliefs are shaped by this script you're living. It determines how you perceive yourself and how far you go in life but, it becomes limiting when you live below your potential. When there is a genuine connection with your true identity living ceases from being a game of trial and error.

When you are living a script, you contend with anything that challenges your beliefs. There is a strong resistance to change even when the changes are trying to align you with your true self. You resist every attempt to connect with who you really are because you have been conditioned to accept the script as your reality. You struggle with true joy and fulfilment. Your happiness is conditioned and dependent upon the fulfilment of the lines you are acting out.

You constantly adjust your dreams and visions to accommodate what people expect of you. The world defines the concept of living and life becomes characterised by so much struggle for significance before the writers of your script but deep within, there is an emptiness that can only be filled by nothing else except your true self.

People always have their motives for limiting your existence to a script and keep you from being true to yourself. The reasons are.

1. Insecurity: people who feel inadequate and threatened around you try to bring you down to their own level by belittling your dreams, talking down your strength and suggesting appropriate way of living

2. To control your outcome. Friends and colleagues try to manipulate your thought process with the intention of stripping you of your power so they can control your actions and outcome. When you loose this power, you find yourself yielding to their suggestions without a protest. You always believe they have your best interest at heart.

3. To protect you. This is often from close families who feel the need to protect you but invariably they're also after their personal interest. They come up with a script they believe is best. This is often manifested in their control over what career to pursue in life, who to marry, your attitude towards being integrated to a certain social status in the society, etc.

If you have been struggling between living a script and connecting with your true self and are now ready to live your core. Here are some questions to help spark a connection with your true self.

1. Do you sometimes sense a deep yearning inside you to respond to the true person in you?

2.At what occasions do you sense this inner voice speaking in you?

3 What does this voice do to you?

4. Do you feel you have lost connection with your true self and are now living a borrowed life?

5 Do you sometimes wish you could connect back with the true you?

6. Does your present life support your values, beliefs and passion?

Wen you genuinely attempt to provide answers to these questions, then you will be deliberately tracing your path back to the original you.
