Are You Really Ready

Life is so full of ironies, the married feel like going back to being single while the singles want nothing but to settle down into married life. But isn't that what makes life so interesting? Marriage too can be interesting when the players understand its a new and different phase of life never lived before and therefore requires special skills to get every blessing embedded in it.   If you're single and in readiness to say, "Yes, I do," growing skills that mature you should not be taken for granted. The chemistry at courtship is important but you also need more than that to keep you going when you are jolted back into reality right after your honey moon. For some, it starts much more earlier than that so that they even begin having doubt about their partner so early into the marriage.

In marriage two people depend on each other, in which case both of you need to be whole for the other person. How do you become whole for two when you aren't even whole for yourself. Continuous growth in your emotional capacity is key here. You've got to be ready for any surprises and you bet marriage is one bag full of surprises. They come in different forms, from your spouse's attitude, in-laws, life's trauma, stress, unpredictable behaviour from kids and so many other areas that could spring surprises at you.   Each time you find yourself responding negatively to other people's actions or inaction, its a pointer that an aspect of you is still in its infant stage and in need of development. What are those areas of your life that need maturing before making that life long commitment.   •
Tolerance
• Patience
• Empathy
• Forbearance
• Self Worth
• Contentment
• Forgiveness
• Humility
• Inner peace
• Grace

Commit to a personal self study on each of these attributes and desire to make them part of you. The better and whole you are as individuals the better and mature your relationship will be in marriage. Marriage though requires work but the work can be made easier when you come in prepaid. Can you take a quick assessment of yourself and answer this question now, are you really ready?
