Overcoming An Attitude of Pessimism

Have you been struggling with pessimism? Do you want to adopt a positive attitude to life? Then you're right where you ought to be, reading this post. I'll be sharing 5 keys that can help you overcome that attitude of pessimism.

Pessimism is like a trap that creates walls between you and where you want to be in life. It creates stagnation where nothing seems to be working. You literary feel your life at a stand still. If you're in this situation, its time to break free from it and embrace all the possibilities around you. Here are some qkeys to help you:

1. Adopt an attitude of gratitude. There's always something and someone in our lives to be grateful for. When we miss this concept, we take our blessings for granted like waking up alive, being able to open our eyes and see the beauty of the sunshine. We take for granted that we slept and woke up alive. We take for granted that we could open our eyes to the beauty of the sun. We open our mouth and we can speak, yet we complain instead of giving thanks from a heart of contentment. We take our parents for granted, spouses, children are not left out. What are you taking for granted around you? Counting our blessings will help us appreciate how much of a loving Father God is to us. A grateful spirit is a positive boost to your energy. Pessimism can be overcome by living in gratitude.

2. Be anxious for nothing. Worry is also a trap, it confuses you and takes your focus away from solution. I used to be under the bondage of worry and it really kept me from living the life I so desired. Our worries are fuelled by fear; fear of the unknown that only exist in our imagination in which a scary picture of an unfavourable outcome is created and sent to our subconsciousness which is interpreted as real. To become positive, you need to reduce your worry as much as possible. Worry carries no solution but aggravates the problem by filing up your plate with anxiety, fear and a troubled heart. What are you worried about as you read this article? What past problems have you been able to solve through worry? Can you think of a small action you can take today towards finding solution to it? What you think is what you become, think solution and become a problem solver.

3.Think and talk like an optimist To think like an optimist, you have to deliberately empty yourself of every negative thought. Here's a small mind exercise to help. Imagine yourself with a shovel, shoveling every of your negative thoughts into a sac. When you're done with this, tie it up and dump it in the ocean. You should sense a lightness in your mind as the weight of negativity leaves you. Optimist also speak kindly to themselves with uplifting words. They encourage and appreciate themselves after a job well done even when others don't acknowledge them. Overcome that feeling of bitterness when you're not recognised. Optimist don't only talk positively, they also feel positively about life and every situation. They know that its always darkest before dawn, for that they always have a happy spirit.

4. Pay attention to your influencers. Depressed and frustrated people will always pull you down with their negativity. If you find yourself struggling with pessimism, please avoid people of like mind if you don't want to end up at the place of lamentation. When you change your influencers you'll be able to dream big and move through life having the right attitude to surmount challenges.

5. Begin your day on a positive note. Start with a heart of gratitude. Read or listen to something inspiring, don't begin your day listening to news around the world. How you begin the day sets the tone for either a positive or a negative day.

Let me add one more and that is taking care of yourself. Our mindset will always reflect how much attention we give to self. You have one life, fix it as much as you go about fixing others. Take care of your spirit, mind and body. When we neglect these vital areas of our lives, then we can't help the negative thoughts that pop up here and there when we have problems.

When you focus on these keys, you'll be able to overcome pessimism and become strengthened through optimism to keep going even when its rough.

How have you managed to stay positive in life, what are the challenges? Please leave your comment in the comment box.TThTHanks you.
