Devotion: What Is The True Meaning of Life

Many plans are in a man's mind, but it is the Lord's purpose for him that will stand. Proverbs 19:21 (AMP)  

What's your perception about your present job, is it just to earn a living or to fulfil purpose? Is it about having some change in your pocket or creating a change out there? Is it all about increasing the value of your financial security or creating value for which you'll be rewarded? This answers will go a long way in determining why you're either happy with life or disappointed. It will also provide answers to why inspite of the paycheck, you're still eluded by contentment.

When your work is about purpose, you live out your potentials just to make a difference, its not only about the pay. There's an inner contentment and fulfilment that floods your being each time you believe purpose is being fulfilled through your work even if it comes from 25% of what you do. When this aspect is missing out from your daily routine, frustration is bound to set in. There's nothing as energising as accomplishing purpose through your job. It inspires you to always want to return to that office. When purpose is not being fulfilled through your work the motivation to continue will be missing. Your work could be characterised by so much routine, as a matter of fact all jobs are mostly routine. The only thing that keeps you from loosing it and packing it all up is purpose.  

What purpose are you created for? What is the reason for your existence? What is the meaning of your life? Do you find this meaning in your job or do you only find money in it? The motivation derived from money or other incentives can never take the place of fulfilment in your life. Money is important but if what you do doesn't inspire you there'll always be an emptiness that can only be filled by purpose. That emptiness can drive you to change jobs, acquire more material possessions or even change relationships but whatever satisfaction you derive from all these will be short lived, whereas purpose is permanent because purpose is who you are, it answers the why question for your existence. This is what God supports to fruition when you align with it according to the Bible text.

Don't just have a busy life, work towards living through accomplishments. This way you create a difference in your own little way. All the differences we all make in our little ways put together makes the world better and life worth living.  

Purpose will deliver us from the mentality that our spouses, our bosses, the government, or even God Himself owes us something. With purpose in your heart, you see yourself owing your generation something, which is IMPACT. You may not have the resources to start building that dream but your can start from the platform your workplace offers.  

Are you in search of joy, fulfilment and contentment then answer the question, what is the meaning of my life? True contentment comes from living out the true meaning of your life. When your life is about solving problems or meeting needs, joy is produced and God is glorified.

• What does your daily routine entails at work?  

• At what point do you sense fulfilment in all you do? This is the point where purpose is being fulfilled. Focus on that and make plans to build on it.
