Devotion: Escape The Comparison Trap

Looking away (from all that will distract) to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith. Heb. 12:2 (AMP)

One limitation to living your dream is trying to be like someone else through comparison.  Comparison never makes you feel good about yourself and limits what you believe about who you are. It uses other people's standard to determine your results. Comparison is a trap that can lead to depression, run from it.

Have you noticed that when you compare yourself with other's its always your worst against their best; your insufficiency against their sufficiency; your lack against their plenty; your least against their most. Your weaknesses against their strengths; your imperfection against their perfection.

You can never come out of this session of comparison motivated to outrun yourself, Instead you're overwhelmed with the feeling of inadequacy, doubt and uncertainty about your future. Even when you're the best at what you do, every of your inspiration will become depleted.

Our scripture says, looking away from every distraction both in person and in properties, while placing your focus on Christ, the one who's put a dream in your heart and is able to help you accomplish it. If there's anyone you must run the race of life against and compete against it is YOURSELF.

Your success is who you are; you determine your life outcome. Your beliefs, values, goals, actions, how strategic you align your thoughts and plans are responsible for your success. Not how someone else is running his own goals. Don't waste precious time and opportunities analysing other people's lives and dreams. Pay close attention to your goals; goals achieved move you closer to your own dream.

Dream your dream and live your own dream. You can never emerge a winner in the game of comparison because someone will always look more attractive, have a nicer car, have a richer spouse, earn bigger pay and be more talented than you are.

Comparison leads to envy, and what you're envious of, you spirit abhors, what you abhor you can't attract. Do you want to live your dream and fulfil God's purpose for your life, you need to escape the comparison trap. Do you want to experience joy unlimited as you take steps to your destiny, escape the comparison trap.

Theodore Roosevelt said, "Comparison is the thief of joy."

Today's Action Plan:

• Outline your daily tasks on a particular goal.

• Your goal from now on would be to outshine the previous performance on each task.

• This way each dawn inspires you to surpass yourself on your previous performance and not any other person.

Enjoy a flourishing day as you concentrate on improving your daily performance.
