The Wilderness Prepares You

Have you been under tremendous pressure? Are you facing trials? Have you been assaulted with all kinds of negative emotions and feelings? Have you finished from an awesome service only to realise back home there isn't any food for you? These are wilderness experiences.

Your wilderness could also be that state of depression, loneliness, despair, fear, pain and sorrow. This is never an exciting experience. Its always characterised by feelings of desolation and loneliness but all of these feelings can be redirected to make it a place of victory and power when you understand that God permits us to go through the wilderness for the purpose of equipping and preparing us for greater use. It is also an opportunity to test our hearts to know if we're motivatedby the material world or the spiritual, Deut 8:2

God has called us to be co-heirs with Christ and also into a life of purpose for which He has equipped us and though He permits us to be tempted in preparation for this use, He Himself does not tempt anyone, there is therefore the need to realise that with each of this temptation the goal of our adversary is to ensure he gets us off course so our lives do not run according to God's plan.

Having this understanding, you need to be sure about who you really are. The courage and strength needed to confront the devil in your wilderness is embedded in your spiritual identity. Whatever you are called to fulfil in life should be founded upon this conviction. When you have a vague idea about your spiritual origin, you become vulnerable to the enemy's manipulation, he lures you into a dialogue and strips you off your authority like he did to Eve.

When Jesus found himself in similar situation, having just concluded 40 days spiritual exercise, He used one weapon the devil dreads so much, the word and went on to fulfil His great destiny. John too was in the wilderness until the time of his showing forth. Your wilderness experience could be a preparation for your showing forth because of the uniqueness of your assignment. Stay connected to the source of your spiritual power, let His voice dispel every negative thought and let your faith walk become established. As these experiences shapen your life you will come to realise that you can encounter God even in the loneliness of your wilderness.
