Pray Until Something Happens, yes because something definitely will
happen if you don't give up. Prayer is like consistently paying into an
account that belongs to you, you don't see the physical account, but you
know you have money in that bank. After sometime you go to check your
balance and you're surprised at what the little amount you've been
paying have turned into. Today, it may seem your prayer isn't making
much impact but when heaven decides to smile on your situation it would
be like a dream because you wouldn't be able to equate the great miracle
with your little prayer and effort. Most times the miracle isn't as a
result of a day's prayer but the result of years of prayer seeds that
have been sown.
The widow is the parable given by Jesus in Lk 18:1-8 didn't say, "let me
give the judge time to think about my request", she kept persisting
until she had her way, you don't relent in prayer because the devil
never goes on break; its only we christians that go on recess once we
gain a small victory and that's why its always easy to strike a believer
when things are rosy. Don't be a daily multivitamin capsule christian
when it comes to prayer, seek God all the time you never can tell when
the Holy Spirit will help you to pray against an impending danger. David
said in Ps 55:16&17 that he will call upon God in the evening,
morning and afternoon. Vs 18 of the same chapter says, "He has redeemed
my soul in peace from the battle that was against me, for they were many
against me." No wonder he never lost any battle. Apart from living a
life of praise, David also knew how to weary God with his petitions, he
had no reason to worry because God always "redeemed his soul in peace".
We as christians, are faced with different battles on a daily basis,
small wonder Phil.4:6 encourages us never to be anxious but through
prayer lay our burdens before our maker and His peace shall keep our
minds, because the Lord Himself will do the fighting while we just hold
our peace (Ex.14:14). Peace is one important benefit of prayer. Prayer
is an exercise that strengthens us and also affords us opportunity to
come before the maker of the whole universe. We women are very
persistent in nature when we want to have our ways, let's bring this
strength into our spiritual walk with God and let's begin to reap the
fruit of persistence in prayer.
