#TheSuitableHelp Episode 18: Weathering The Storm

2. #TheSuitableHelp is aimed at providing wisdom, support and encouragement for wives and single ladies to fulfil God's call on their lives.

4. I have an inner nudge to encourage that woman going through storms in her marriage today. #TheSuitableHelp  

5. For that, I've titled today's episode, "Weathering The Storm." #TheSuitableHelp  

6. When we make our marriage vows, its always with joy and excitement. #TheSuitableHelp  

7. Our expectations are always that of a smooth ride through our married years. With each new day bursting with warmth and happiness. #TheSuitableHelp  

8. No one ever considers the meaning of the phrase, "for worse", or even think that such a blissful union could have potential for storms. #TheSuitableHelp  

9. A song writer says, "Jesus knows the way through the wilderness, all I have to do is just to follow Him." #TheSuitableHelp  

10. When you make Jesus your anchor through your marital storms, He helps you discover the strength of your marriage. #TheSuitableHelp  

11. There are various forms of storms, financial storm, health issues, extended families, unfaithfulness, differences, etc #TheSuitableHelp  

12. These storms have the capability of destroying what you've both laboured for over the years if you don't respond to it rightly. #TheSuitableHelp          

13. In every storm, you have the power to choose how you approach it, either with bitterness, anger and doubt. #TheSuitableHelp  

14...Or with faith, seeing nothing but Jesus to cling on. #TheSuitableHelp  

15. Your attitude in times of storm is also crucial, it determines whether you'll sail through or sink in it. #TheSuitableHelp  

16. A positive attitude builds your hope through faith. #TheSuitableHelp  

17. While faith helps you look to Jesus and not at the storm. When your focus shifts, sinking is inevitable. Take a lesson from Peter. #TheSuitableHelp  

18. Look out for the evidence of God's presence in every storm you're in, He's the ever present help in trouble.  #TheSuitableHelp  

19. He's always calm in the storm. He can also give you that same calmness through a deep sense of peace. #TheSuitableHelp  

20. One enemy to contend with during the storm is your mind and thoughts. #TheSuitableHelp  

21. Be prepared to take thoughts captives otherwise you'll be depleted by so much negativity. #TheSuitableHelp  

22. Whatever exalts itself above the knowledge of God in your life has the capacity to cripple you with fear. #TheSuitableHelp  

23. No other time is the best to engage the power of self talk than when you're going through storms in your marriage. #TheSuitableHelp  

24. Speak the word. Make the confessions. Life and death are in the power of the tongue. #TheSuitableHelp  

25. Learn to depend on God during the times of storm. Our Adamic nature puts a limit on what your spouse can do for you. #TheSuitableHelp  

26. But God is all sovereign and can surpass your expectations if you lean on Him. #TheSuitableHelp  

27. Its always difficult to explain how all things will work together for good, but you can always trust Him as a loving Father. #TheSuitableHelp

29. This is so because stress and difficulties drives people apart. #TheSuitableHelp  

30. You can choose to turn it into that string that pulls you together. Remember you have the power to choose. #TheSuitableHelp  

31. You can achieve this by asking God for wisdom and grace to be there for your husband and love him as he wants to be loved. #TheSuitableHelp  

32. Different occasions sometimes call for the need to be loved differently. #TheSuitableHelp  

33. How do you love a man who has just lost his job? By believing in him even when he begins to doubt his own worth. #TheSuitableHelp    

34. By encouraging and speaking the best out of him. By desiring him physically. #TheSuitableHelp  

35. By supporting him with your spiritual and emotional strength. #TheSuitableHelp  

36. God allows storms in our lives to help us access our lives and check our priorities. Open your heart to be taught afresh. #TheSuitableHelp  

37. No matter the storm, external or internal, your choices will always determine your results. #TheSuitableHelp  

38. The power of staying true to yourself is in your ability to stand by your choices. #TheSuitableHelp  

39. Our storms may be similar but they can never be the same, because of the uniqueness of the players in it. #TheSuitableHelp  

40. God know us individually and as couples, He also knows the nature of our storms. #TheSuitableHelp  

41. Not only does He use storms to get our attention, He also uses it to strengthen the bonds of marriages. #TheSuitableHelp  

42. Sometimes, the most turbulent times in my marriage when I had thought, the end has come...1/2 #TheSuitableHelp  

43.... have been the very situations that have shaped my marriage and made us more in love, only God can do that. #TheSuitableHelp  

44. For better or worse, yes the truth is the better you long for sometimes is hidden in the worse of storms that can hit you. #TheSuitableHelp  

45. But no matter what, always remember, if Jesus could calm the storm, He can calm every tension in your marriage. #TheSuitableHelp
