The Joy of Motherhood

Motherhood is overwhelming and demanding on our time, resources, energy, skills and faith but it also has its joy. The joy sure commensurate with every labour and pain in it.

One of the joy of motherhood is watching your kids transform through the stages, from the womb to infancy, toddler to teenager and then adulthood. Though as mothers, we never want to accept the fact that, our once upon a time baby has matured into a full grown man/woman. Our pride is seeing our labour rewarded before our own very eyes as our children take all we put in them in form of instructions, corrections and sometimes denials of certain pleasures, build on them and form rules, guides and standard for living that helps them succeed through life at every phase.

This is my desire and I want to believe I'm not alone on this. If we all desire this reward, let's not grow weary in well doing but keep building on the strong foundation we have laid for them. As they grow from one stage to the other, the methods may change, like I find myself doing a lot of talking these days. I thank God that He matures and prepares us mothers for the challenges of each developmental phase of our children, because He understand what comes with each phase.

As we make the rules, let's also live by them and be the first example for them to see as their role model. Children learn more from what they see than what they're told. So our joy can be fuller when we see their lives shaped to the glorious image of God.

We look beyond the pains and hurt of motherhood to see the blessings and reward that awaits as many of us who wholeheartedly submits to this great call of God on our lives to raise a generation in a single child.

Our joy shall never be cut short. Amen!
